The Development of Groundwork in Japan

◆Direct from the UK: The history of Groundwork

Groundwork was established in the UK in the late 1970s, the brainchild of the Countryside Commission in response to the physical decline of communities throughout the nation. Groundwork UK strives to build sustainable communities through joint environmental action, based on the belief that better neighbourhoods also can lead to socioeconomic prosperity. The focal points of Groundwork UK are its trusts which employ highly-trained staff to work with locals to regenerate and revitalise their surroundings in 6 main areas: Communities, Land, Employment, Education Business and Youth.
